“I’m the sell out, and she’s the artist,” said Madcon’s Tshawe Baqwa to NRK Lydverket of his little sister.
Comparable perhaps to the Knowles sisters Beyoncé and Solange, Nosizwe Baqwa has chosen to take a rather more indie route to success than her big brother, though no stranger to the pop world having already worked with the likes of Madcon, Karpe Diem, Sofian, Paperboys, Sisi og Charlotte Thorstvedt.
She’s also sung with the NRK Orchestra, on TV2, at Oslo Live, as part of a performance art piece for contemporary artist Anne Kathrine Dolven and headlined Lofoten International Art Festival in 2011.
" I come from the soul, but working with a producer who plays in the electronic genre. I do a little voice acrobatics, but it's quite warm. I think the style can be called electronic soul."
In 2011 Nosizwe made her live solo debut at Oslo World Music Festival. In November 2012 she released her first single “Do You” which is about having the courage to just well, be yourself.
“Focus on what’s inside you, be a positive person, try and spread just a little happiness and when you make other people happy, be happy.”
Nosizwe’s debut album will be released in Summer 2013.
