Twaine - A World in Change

Swedish band Twaine are Lead by the deep and engaging vocals of Henrik Sundquist, and their new 10-track album offers a highly-listenable experience from beginning to end. The mellow track, Best of Days is a perfect example.

Shaqdi ft. Zagor (The EP)

I don’t think I need a chair anymore.

I’ve stood up and clapped to so many debut songs this year that I’m starting to lose count.

I can still remember the feeling of hearing Daggi, Ness, Kaalm, Pomona Dream and Veronah’s debut tracks, and the wave of excitement and pleasure I felt. It’s like they connected with my very soul as I was embraced with complete, music contentment, requiring me to continue listening again, and again, and again.

My chair was discarded once again when I pressed play on Track #1 - Lover on Swedish singer Shaqdi’s debut EP - Shaqdi ft. Zagor (The EP).

In case you’re wondering, Nine Sparks Riots isn’t a punk band.

Nine Sparks Riots is Swedish trombonist, Kristian Persson's Jazz band, and his new single - Elevation is a soulful testimony to making the most of life.

“I was quite high on life when I wrote the song, so it's basically about appreciating and making the most of our short time here on earth. And, be sure to leave it a little bit better than when we got here” says Kristian.

There’s really will be no stopping the Danish Band - Veronah.

Following on from their superb debut video No Thing Like This’, the band now release Hopeless Case - a full 6 min track, just as gorgeous as their debut.

From the gentle horns intro to the full climatic ending, Hopeless Case makes listening a pleasure!

Out now is a remix of the Award-Winning artist Jonas’s song "Undskyld”, by Black Dylan producers Nuplex.

The Danish singer has been on tour all summer with Black Dylan, and after being repeatedly performed live, it's now been released digitally. Taken from the album Forst Til Sidst, this version adds more warmth, instrumentation and soulful groove to the original single.

FARIDA (N) - ‘THE 25TH HOUR’ MIXTAPE

If you research the artist Farida, you’d be surprised to come across an article whose author opens by expressing shock at hearing R&B from Norway. A little more research would reveal that Norwegian Soul & B&B has been on the rise for a while, thanks to artists such as Rebekka B, Bernhoft, Beady Belle, Monica Ifejilika, Nosizwe, Baba Soul, Miss Tati and many others.

For newcomers to Norwegian soul though, there’s still a mountain of joy to be found in the discovery of these artists.

A new discovery for us is the Norwegian singer Farida, who blends the melancholy of Scandinavian life with R&B and experimental beats on her debut EP, ‘The 25th Hour’ Mixtape.

Orfium steps into the online music ring

I have to admit it. I love Soundcloud.

If you were to stop me on the train and I removed my headphones, it would usually reveal that I’m listening to a Soundcloud playlist (usually our own), a mix on Mixcloud, or a UK radio station such as solarradio.co.uk, Floradio.co.uk or Mixlr.co.uk.

For a while, though, the spectre of survival has been hanging over Soundcloud, as it has sought the best avenues to monetise the platform. In an effort to challenge Spotify, it has finally launched a paid subscription service, SoundCloud Go. For $10, users get month’s worth of access a huge new library of music. Sounds reasonable, but sites such as Toneden.io are also growing in popularity.

Will a viable rival ever knock Soundcloud or even Spotify from their lofty perches?

Possibly.

The captivating Norwegian/South African singer has already released two sublime singles from her forthcoming album, ‘The Best Drug’ and ‘Intro’, and now Nosizwe teases us with a new short video - Acapella

Eddie and the Lovemakers - 360° Session

Swedish band, Eddie and the Lovemakers, blew us away with their 2014 debut EP of the same name. The EP’s raw, old-school soul and impassioned vocals were both honest and enthralling.

Now we get to take a centre stage with the band thanks to exciting 360° camera technology. Use the arrows at the top of the video to look around while Eddie Hultén delivers all of his soulful intensity, even when the Mic stand tries to run away!

American disco diva, Kiki Kyte, dons her Roller Skates and whirls us back into the 70s on her new single - Disco Chick.

This marvellous old-school throwback, sits perfectly alongside classic disco hits by Chic, Donna Summer and numerous 70’s hip-shaking, dance-floor fillers.
