Marie makes Perth float

Written by

Danish soul singer Marie Dahlstrom certainly knows how to twist a cover version into something dreamy and soulful and her latest re-creation is no different.

From Phil Collins to Rihanna, the music vaults she dives into to re-work is a clear testimony to her vast music appreciation. This time Marie has taken the song Perth by American indie folk band Bon Iver and added delightful horns by Malthe Milthers and of course her distinct vocals and melodies.

Personally I prefer Maries version which lifts the original and infuses it with her warm soothing style. Without doubt this is another excellent cover version by Marie to unwind too.

Marie will be appearing at the Scandinavian Soul Festival in Horsens, Denmark 5-7 Sept 2013.

Cards on the table, I was a late-comer to the whole soul-blues-jazz axis of music.

It’s not as if I was actively avoiding it, its more that there is only so much time in the day and probably something to do with comfort zones too, if I’m honest. And whilst I enjoy doing my homework to fill in the musical gaps via revolutionary protest funk, slick west-coast jazz-rockers and incendiary and intricate electric blues slingers, it is in the quieter and more considered moments that I often find the greatest pleasures. It is why Marie Dahlstrom’s new e.p. has been a constant soundtrack for a while now.

We may be in October however, summer isn't over yet as a feeling of warm days, and gentle breezes emanate from Marie Dahlstrøms’ new single - Where the Flowers Grow.

'Where the Flowers Grow,' is the second single, which follows her upcoming EP’s first release, 'anymore.'
