Introducing: Bishat (SWE) - Some Things

Written by

We may be heading towards the end of another year of superb soulful music from Scandinavia, however there’s still time to discover fresh emerging talent.

Scandinaviansoul.com is delighted to introduce you to Bishat.

Bishat is a new Swedish artist with roots in Ethiopia and Eritrea. She writes and performs dark soulful pop with influences from contemporary R&B. She was brought up in a musical family and is the little sister of Junip's member Elias Araya. She got her first taste of making music when she at the tender age of 13 wrote her first song with José González.

Her debut track is a mashup combination of some of the music that has influenced her; The Weeknd, Daniel Johnston and fellow Swede Lykke Li. She will release her first 'official' single in early 2016.

Some Things is produced by Swedish producer tamokillme and Bishat.
Bishat's potential is clear.

2016 is sounding good already!

As we wish all our readers a very happy new year, the single, inspired by R&B legends like Brandy and Toni Braxton, reminds us of the past while exciting us to the future.

  • Bishat releases her second single - Mine

Swedish singer Bishat says she doesn’t want to be put in a ‘RnB or Soul box’. Well, she won’t like this as we’re going to put her into an increasingly growing box of musical talent called 'Scandinavian Soul'.

We only created the ‘box’ (we prefer ‘genre’) to make it easier to discover all the superb soulful music thats happening across Scandinavia. Bishat’s new track Mine is drenched with her soulful vocals and the new R&B flavour - it just has to go in!
