D/troit release their new single - Soul Sound System

Written by
D/troit, Denmark.

It's time that started showing on Google maps and marked as the place to find one of the finest soul bands in Scandinavia.

UK fans have already discovered the five guys from Copenhagen thanks to UK DJ Craig Charles who played the band’s previous singles from the EP - Do The Right Thing weekly on his BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 shows. Charles also broadcast a special 3-song BBC session and interview for 'The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show' in November 2016.

Now the award-winning band release their new single - Soul Sound System. 100% soul with a raw, retro edge, it's layered with sweet harmonies and dynamic horns. It also continues to express the bands' socially conscious lyrics as they shout for hope and freedom.

The single is mixed by Gabe Roth (The Heavy, Sharon Jones and The Dapkings, Charles Bradley, The Budos Band, Lily Allen, etc.), co-founder of Daptone Records.

Released digitally (listen on Spotify here), a 7" vinyl version will be available mid-April with 'Freedom is not for Free' on the B-side.
So our destination is set.

Who's coming to Denmark with us?

  • Public Secret won't be a secret for long
The debut single from Copenhagen-based future soul band, Public Secret - Tears (To Water Her Roses) is the first beacon to what we feel will become a shining soul light.

Inspired by the sounds of Bilal, Andersen Park, Frank Ocean, D'Angelo and Thundercat, Tears (To Water Her Roses) is a beautifully titled, lyrically engaging track. Deftly produced by Lush Reality, the tight soulful rhythm builds to a dynamic and passionate crescendo.

Released with the digital track is a creative music video, filmed and directed by band members Ölle Häggberg and August Campeotto. In the video hooded lead singer Bobby Bovell (who we discovered as a solo singer) meanders against the backdrop of Copenhagen's futuristic urban architecture.

Having raved about her debut single, the free to download - Save Your Love (reviewed here), emerging Danish chanteuse MIKALA returns with a surprise new release, in the shape of the mid-tempo gospel-tinged - We Got It.

If her debut was an announcement of the promise to come, then We Got It, cements that promise.
