Paper Girl Adée ain’t jivin’ in new Beat Funktion video

Written by

Grab your popcorn and journey back to the 70’s with a retro inspired video from the Swedish soul funk masters - Beat Funktion.

The full meaning behind the track ‘Paper Girl’ comes to life as we see Adée question the image and effects of females image in the media. The in-demand Swedish singer has had a busy year. Having already released her debut album and toured the US this year, she now provides a perfect synergy of song and rap with Beat Funktions tight groove.

Directed by Johan Waltari, and filmed and shot in Uppsala, Sweden, the style of the 70’s film intro and outro credits are a fitting touch.

Paper Girl is taken from Beat Funktion's album - Green Man

Despite the title's sexual connotations, the single is instead a lovers plea for a partner to decide on their future. Produced by Christian Mombrú this smooth, soulful pop track eases away stress with gentle guitar strings and sweet harmonies.

On our quest to find the latest soul music from across Scandinavia we usually fill the tank with premium grade and travel at 130km/per hr. Naturally, therefore, from time to time we miss writing, reviewing or listening to all the new soulful releases. In a desire to address this I'm pressing the brakes, backing up and taking the time to check them out, slowly.

So, with our Scandi Soul Mustang parked outside our favourite night spot in Stockholm, I recline in the leather seats, press play on the album - Addicted, and shine our reverse lights on Adée.
