Sweedest mix of soul sung in Swedish

Written by

Regular visitors to our site may find many of the tracks we feature are sung in English though is not by intention. The Swedes, for example, have been devoted soul and style lovers for years and many excellent tracks are currently residing unloved in vinyl crates. And despite what non-Scandinavians may feel are 'incomprehensible lyrics,' native sung tracks from across the Nordics are just as accessible and enjoyable.

We've discovered a selection of 'old-skool' Swedish sung grooves on Mixcloud compiled by DJ Olof Karlstrand, ’Sweedest Sounds Vol. 24 - Soul På Svenska’, sprinkled with recognisable soul cover versions.

Who knows, by the end of the mix you may also say it's 'Bra.'

Check out his Swedish reggae (Sweggae), Boogie and Disco selections too!

*Bra (SWE) = Good (not ladies undergarments)

We sang the praises of Loidimo's debut track - Thousand Million Times, and we're about to sing them even louder now its matched with a good-looking video.

Directed by Teo Dimitriadis, the well-produced visuals highlight the song's quality, as we see Loidimo witness his lover's betrayal.

  • Paul Mac Innes - Crash & Burn
Swedish singer, Paul Mac Innes second single Crash & Burn is a soulful/pop fusion oozing impassioned emotion.

The bespectacled singer has gone back to the core of his music, and the result feels retro yet modern, almost with a ‘Bowiesque’ lyrical construction. Released with a rolling cassette video it also genuflects his love for nostalgia. He’s asking us to listen the way we used too.
