The Scandinavian Soul Music Awards isn’t only an event to acknowledge and celebrate the growing genre, it’s also become a new soul network evening.
Swedish soul singers, Tanya and Marianne Da Cruz linked together at the 2013 Awards (Se Mig), and during the 2014 Awards Finnish producer Akanuke (HUMUS) and Nor/US Soul singer Jay Nemor (Kenya & Nemor) also connected.
Out now is the first official single from their musical collaboration ‘Ode 2 Don C’, and it’s soulfully sublime.
From the outset of their debut 13 track opus Sense/Sensibility, it is clear that Humus are more a movement than a musical duo, where they use poetry, music, film and Fashion, as the mediums to impart their messages of love, happiness, togetherness, loss, pain, self awareness and hope.
Humus are the northern most soul duo of the world, and in a few weeks (Monday 13th of April to be exact!) the Finnish band release their debut album 'Sensibility/Sense' on the BBE Record label.
The 13 track album includes tracks such as; I do (I do), I’m Telling You and Whole Lotta Love.
A couple kiss, slowly, longingly, and passionately. The camera remains fixed, focused on the pair as their mouths explore one another and their hands gently stroke and caress their bare skin.
This was exactly how we first discovered the Finnish duo group Humus (Heikki/Tiia) in 2013 with the sensual video which features lead singer Tiia and her real-life partner in a soulful version of the ‘Whole Lotta love’ classic, originally sang by Led Zeppelin.
Fittingly released on International Women's Day (March 8) 'I'm Telling You' is the latest video from Finnish Band Humus and contains only women. And just like the day itself, 'I'm Telling You' is a general celebration of one womans independence, economic and social achievements whilst, also acknowledging the simple need of a loving partner.
Here's the brand new video for Humus' I do (I do)' taken from the compilation "Bamalovesoul.com presents On Deck 2" coming soon on the BBE record label!
Following the success of the critically acclaimed album “BamaLoveSoul Presents On Deck” Roderick Moody - aka DJ Rahdu, has compiled a new compilation entitled “On Deck 2” due to be released 10 Feb. 2014.
“On Deck 2”, released on the BBE record label, contains a wealth of new material specifically submitted for this project which includes Rippy Austin’s ‘Fallen’, Stephanie Nicole’s spaced out funk ‘Diligence’, and we were particularity interested to find a horn driven and gorgeously sung serenade called “I Do (I Do)” by Finnish band Humus, whom we've been following closely.
