I really want all the artists we introduce you to on our site to do well.
Over the years of hearing numerous demos and private links nothing beats hearing the drive, passion and excitement of each artist. It’s magical to be around and I’d be so happy to see all these independent artists get the recognition they deserve.
However, as much as we at Scandinaviansoul.com attempt to enlighten as many people as possible to all the great music we sadly can’t reach everyone, and in turn, artists who should light up peoples mornings and evenings may have already passed many by.
I hope that’s not the case with vivacious singer Imla who I caught at her single release event last night.
On the morning of 25th of November a friend of mine shared a link on Facebook. I consider that friend a respected voice in the subject of funkiness, which got me interested. Minutes later I listened to the album ”Solar Satisfaction” by the Gothenburg-based band Manganas Garden. I was floored, to say the least. And to my surprise, they were gonna play the Stockholm-venue Obaren that same evening.
Of course, I needed to put on my dancing shoes and get my arse over there!
“People are people”, sings Graciela Chin A Loi from the Fasching stage. Political awareness is ever present during the evening and creates a euphoric feeling as the soul singer performs for the first time under her own name.
Located in the affluent area of Stockholm is the Story Hotel. Its raw cement walls mixed with cosy sofas and dimmed lights make it a very attractive venue to visit, and it’s this location that Swedish soul singer Tanya has chosen as the setting for her new single release ‘Superpowers’.
