Make no mistake - SNOH AALEGRA has officially arrived.

Now, there’s no excuse not to know this Swedish singer’s name, especially after listening to her new richly textured and thoroughly compelling mini album - DON'T EXPLAIN.

under 240Based in LA, the Singer/model and NO I.D. Protege has a selection of guest artists and innovative producers such as; John Mayer, James Fauntleroy, BADBADNOTGOOD, Boi-1da, and No I.D. on her latest release. The creative cover artwork perfectly reflects the rich tapestry of strings, beats, soul, Jazz, and R&B that awaits you on each track.

Track #1 ‘In the River’, produced by Christian Rich, for example, is deliciously deep and simply infectious.

The haunting brilliance of Charleville 9200 feat. James Fauntleroy, produced by Boi-1da and Frank Dukes, continues to impress with its echoing chorus and reverse samples. It's just a shame it ends so abruptly with a short 2.36 run time. However, track #4 Home is no let up in musical satisfaction as, Snoh’s elegant soul caresses your ears with deep and heartfelt lyrics.

Snoh also adds sophisticated soulful strings and intoxicating R&B to the mix on her re-work of the Bille Holiday classic - Don’t Explain - to deliver a mesmerizing interpretation.

Snoh’s seductive and assured tone on ‘Under The Influence’ is quite frankly intoxicating.

The album feels carved from a pulp fiction novel!

It would make an ideal soundtrack for Modesty Blaise or Velvet Templeton (fictional female spies), as Bond is old news! Sleek leather sofas, a glass of whiskey with rocks of ice, and curls of smoke rising from a glass ashtray are just some of the images envisioned while listening to this mini album evoked for me - it’s so easy to get delightfully lost in this.

The complete 9-track mini album is cinematic in tone, superbly produced and harmonically-rich. Oh yeah, really like this!

Key tracks: Each and every one!

Music is the product of more than just the notes and the words that fashion its outer shell. It also carries the artistic DNA of its creator, it speaks of their life journey, and it also soaks up something of the place that it is made in. It is probably the most natural thing in the world to write smooth and vibrant music if you look out of the window and see the azure blue of the Pacific Ocean or the sun-kissed beaches of the Mediterranean.

Snoh Aalegra, however, is proof, if proof were needed, that the cooler Scandinavian climes and the rain-soaked London streets can also influence music in a positive way.
