SOWECO - Keep On

SOWECO has already laid down a solid reputation for creating music which weaves smooth jazz-infused vibes through soulful grooves. Their new album does take a bit of finding, however, once you do track it down, you are in for a real treat.

Marie Dahlstrom - Nine EP

It is in the quieter and more considered moments that I often find the greatest pleasures. It is why Marie Dahlstrom’s new e.p. has been a constant soundtrack for a while now.

ALBUM REVIEW

The Band Called Oh - Guerrilla Gardening

An album built around the concept of Guerrilla Gardening, a movement that sought to improve the urban decay of 60’s New York is certainly a brave and fascinating idea. We took a listen to the Norwegian band's new album.

Marie Dahlstrom - Nine EP

Cards on the table, I was a late-comer to the whole soul-blues-jazz axis of music.

It’s not as if I was actively avoiding it, its more that there is only so much time in the day and probably something to do with comfort zones too, if I’m honest. And whilst I enjoy doing my homework to fill in the musical gaps via revolutionary protest funk, slick west-coast jazz-rockers and incendiary and intricate electric blues slingers, it is in the quieter and more considered moments that I often find the greatest pleasures. It is why Marie Dahlstrom’s new e.p. has been a constant soundtrack for a while now.

Shaqdi - Colorless

The warm, soulful tones of Shaqdi, with the assured production of Zagor, has beguiled us since her premiere single and EP, and we continue to be captivated by her.

Her new single - Colorless tells of her desire to escape, composed with an electronic beat while Shaqdi's expresses with song and spoken-word.

Marie Dahlstrom - anymore.

We once described cryptofunk, indie-soul guru Dim Out as an artist 'who’s not released a ‘bad’ track yet.'

Also easily matching that description is Danish soul singer Marie Dahlstrom.

She really can't do anything wrong, and her new single - anymore. proves that.

Did you miss these tracks last month?

Ok, basically, we did!

As we were caught up in the whirlwind and excitement of the Scandinavian Soul Music Awards, several delectable tracks were uploaded and released, and we couldn’t let you pass these gems by!

On February 26, at Katalin in Uppsala, Sweden, our first ever Award night kicked off with a surprise artist. Erik Runeson, a (until now) undiscovered soul singer started the evening with a real soulful groove.

Marie Dahlstrom (DK) - Gloom EP

This may be the only time in the past 20 years that I've been glad to not buy as much vinyl as I used to. Had I'd been searching through my local record store, I probably would have skipped past Marie Dahlstrom’s EP – entitled Gloom – no matter how good she looked on the cover! What a mistake I would have made! Luckily, Marie’s ever-growing fan base means that there’s no doubt I would have been recommended this EP sooner or later.

One of the hardest working Scandinavian Soul singers, Marie Dahlstrom, takes a break and hands the creative keys over to you in an exciting remix competition.

Marie Dahlstrom - What's It Gonna Be

Popular Soul singer Marie Dahlstrom (DK) releases her new video for 'What's It Gonna Be', an excellent summer track with hints of a more pop undertone.

Marie makes Perth float

Danish soul singer Marie Dahlstrom certainly knows how to twist a cover version into something dreamy and soulful and her latest re-creation is no different.
