Exactly one year after the release of his album Fever, Thomas Dybdahl revisits the highly acclaimed collection with a new extended version.
Fever has a retro ’60s feel, expressive with superb guitar-driven songs, incorporating the core sound of US soul music. The real instrumentation is sumptuously textured, overlaid by Thomas’s vocals illustrating genuine heart and soul. Songs such as Call Me by My Name, Fever and Then There Was You impress though 45 is still the albums standout track. Streaming platforms such as Spotify don’t do this album justice as this feels crafted for vinyl, but it doesn’t have to be to keep you captivated.
Working under the lockdown in Norway, Thomas produced new music and cleverly and playfully renamed the title – Cabin Fever. If you’ve also been working from home during the pandemic, then you’ll surely relate.
Despite the added label ‘extended version‘, there is no extended run length on the original cuts. This new version includes five additional songs, including two previously unreleased tracks (River feat. Beharie and Hard Liquor). The album remains essential listening for soul fans worldwide.
