Backtracking: Soulful Melis makes an impressive first impression

Norwegian singer/songwriter Melis has just appeared on our soul searching sights with her release, Paint My Nails and immediately caught our attention.

Influenced by the alluring sound of ’90s R&B, the smooth rhythm of Paint My Nails is layered with angelic harmonies and wrapped in a loving lyrics about someone you’d do whatever it takes to take your mind off.

The soul sister, (which Melis certainly is) evokes a Beyonce atmosphere, and the production is wonderfully intriguing, pushing the single into an invigorating and repeatable listen. My new addiction to Melis started after one hit!

In 2019, after ten years working as part of various bands, Melis decided to go solo and in March 2019 debuted with this single – Paint My Nails. Her follow up single – Weekend Free was also a strong soulful release and a highly recommended listen.
