London-based Swedish artist Karin Fransson delivers a sensual, soulful pop single, daring you to resist her charms.
Her soothing, dulcet tones have always had us under her spell. Singles such as Burning Shivers, Slowly, and Shallow Waters are just a few of the releases that have kept us captivated over the years, so resistance was always going to be futile.
Acoustic guitar drives the singer-songwriter’s compelling lyrics, which feel personal and deeply soulful. Resist Me warns the listener not to be beguiled and locked in a love game played by her rules. Ironically, the more you listen, the harder that challenge becomes.
Playing live offers immediate feedback from audiences, and after performing the song at shows in Kentish Town and Stoke Newington earlier this year, Karin was encouraged by the response to finally record it.
“It’s a song I wrote some time ago and always had fun playing live,” says Karin. “For the recorded version, I got company by talented multi-instrumentalist and artist-producer Massimo Fiocco, who plays bass on it, and Steve Holmes on beautiful keys.”
Keeping the original arrangement intact gives the recording a live feel, making the performance all the more intimate.
So, for the first time ever, we’re going to suggest ignoring Karin’s advice. Don’t resist her. Listen and enjoy.
