Scandinavian soul continues to evolve, sitting just outside the genre’s US roots while shaping something more introspective. Swedish artist Klas Ehnemark taps into that space on his new single Indian.
Sung in Swedish, the track may create a slight language gap for some listeners, but the emotion cuts straight through. This is where Swedish soul often shines. Feeling first, words second.

“Indian” is about belonging and the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself”, explained Klas. “The title comes from the spoken bridge, where I describe feeling a deep, almost spiritual connection to my ancestors and to the land – ‘like an Indian’.”

Klas Ehnemark is a Swedish singer-songwriter from the island of Öland, off the country’s east coast. With a background in jazz and composing for film and theatre, his recent work moves into Swedish-language soul and pop. His writing comes from a personal place, touching on identity, change, and finding your way back to yourself.
Indian was released on April 1 and is the lead single from his upcoming album Återställd, arriving April 27. The ten-track project is fully self-recorded and produced on Öland.
