The new musical collective ‘Cloudpocket’ from Sweden wanna show that bands aren’t dead!
That’s Cloudpockets‘ opening statement, and it’s already music to our ears. And just as pleasing is their debut single – Default.
The song is about addiction and breaking bad habits, uplifted by a funky b-line and JB/Prince-esque lick. This danceable single enchants with lead singer Jonatan Renströms’ smooth vocal. The expletive lyric is almost unnoticeable as the track effortlessly blends the genres pop and disco. It will even be used in an upcoming TV commercial.
Worldwide bands are still a rarity, and we may have to thank the pandemic for Cloudpocket inception. The six members; Jonatan Renström (Vocals/guitar/keys), Jonas Ljunggren (Bass) William Kling and Dan Göransson (guitars), Gustaf Sjögren (drums) and Maja Bäckman (backing vocals) found a connection during the lockdown (2020-21). They recorded all the tracks to their forthcoming debut album filling it with vintage electric piano, disco guitars and soulful harmonies. Default is an ideal teaser.
Their next single will be released in January. Followed by more singles and a debut album.
I have a good feeling about this band. Bring on 2022!
