On Friday, January 9th 2015 Norwegian singer Omar will release his debut single “Hold You Back”.
Soul singers such as; Bernhoft, Rebekka B and Baba Soul already had are our ears firmly tuned to the Norwegian waters, and we can now look forward to the forthcoming year.
We first discovered the young singer giving a scintillating acapella version of Musiq Soulchild – Just Friends.
After reaching the semi-finals in the first season of The Voice in 2012, Omar has been focused on developing his own unique sound. Inspired by Donny Hathaway, Brandy and Stevie Wonder, the soul aspect in his music was inevitable. Omar’s growing interest in the pop and club scene means a combination of these genres has become a natural progression.
Based in Oslo, Omar began working with producers such as Axel Carlson (Axxe) and Tailors who have helped inspire him in the creative process. With a distinct voice and a personal sound, he’s finally ready to show the world what he has been working on.
