Thirteen years ago, Scandinaviansoul.com set out to uncover soulful voices in the Nordic region, and Parasto Sazvar was among the first to truly shine. Now, with her latest release, Elevate, she reaffirms her place as one of the most enduring and evocative artists in the scene.
Dubbed “The Voice of Summer” here for her radiant tones, Parasto collaborates with hip-hop producer More-10 (Simon Emanuel, Mwuana, Lazee), creating a track that effortlessly blends nostalgia and contemporary flair.
From the opening notes, Elevate evokes a soulful warmth that feels both familiar and fresh. Its foundation is steeped in 90s neo-soul, recalling icons like D’Angelo, yet it’s unmistakably modern. The groove—a critical yet often under appreciated element of exemplary music—is undeniable, with a rich, resonant bassline anchoring the track. Parasto’s smooth vocals weave seamlessly through More-10’s production layers, enriched by contributions from Mårten Lundqvist and Nils Rulewski Stenberg. The result is a masterclass in merging classic R&B rhythms with forward-thinking beats.
The lyrics are as poignant as the audio production. Parasto reflects on themes of trust, love, and growth, creating a song that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable.

“Elevate is a soundtrack for those who feel that ‘almost’ isn’t enough and are ready to take things to the next level,” Parasto explains. “Sometimes we wait for the perfect moment to move forward in a relationship, but Elevate is about trusting what’s already there and daring to imagine something bigger—even if everything isn’t perfectly aligned yet. It’s about embracing the process.”
ANOTHER VERSION ARRIVES SOON
Adding another dynamic layer to the song’s narrative is the unexpected collaboration with New York underground hip-hop legend Jojo Pellegrino. Drawn to Parasto’s earlier work, Pellegrino reached out to express his admiration, setting the stage for a cross-genre partnership that feels natural yet inspired.
“Jojo contacted me out of the blue, saying how much he loved my music and wanted me on his upcoming album,” Parasto shares. “He also asked if he could collaborate on one of my songs. When he heard Elevate, it clicked instantly. His verse merges R&B and hip-hop effortlessly, staying true to the track’s core vibe. Honestly, working with him was a joy—he’s incredibly talented and just a genuinely respectful guy.”
Elevate isn’t just another release; it’s a reminder of Scandinavian soul’s enduring evolution. With more music on the horizon, Parasto Sazvar proves once again that her summers of soul are far from over.
