Stockholm collective The JamNation Band absorb the feelings of a world in turmoil and offer a song of resounding hope, consciousness and togetherness.
Based in the heart of Sweden’s capital city, The JamNation Band are a vibrant, ever-changing group of artists and musicians who regularly meet and perform at the Temple Bar. The evenings are a rich mix of original and cover versions in Jazz, funk, hip-swaying soul, blues, rock and all things in between, before becoming a colourful Jam session of friends and strangers who take to the stage in musical montages.
It is one of the few places in Sweden where live music is free, inclusive and impromptu.
Working through the pandemic the bands’ new release Universe draws on their musical world of influences, to create an organic and genre-free sound. The bass hints of reggae, the guitar electrified by rock and the vocals, by Germaine Thomas, are immersed in soul.
You don’t have to follow the news to sense the current atmosphere, as on-going issues in politics, race and climate concerns dominate our social discourse. Universe is a message of awareness, attention and unity — a call for us to come together.
/ We need to tune in to this universe / ’cause if we can’t converse, then we are all lost.
Music has always been one of humans greatest messengers, yet today we remain distracted while artists such as Cardi B (her latest video has 67+million views!) continue to effortlessly capture our attention.
Our time to truly listen is now as this is a call we have to answer.
