Vira Milton, a young singer-songwriter, defies genre association with her free-flowing direction. Drawing inspiration from vocal powerhouses like Amy Winehouse and Billie Holiday, she has crafted a stylish jazzy soul sound that is distinctly her own. It’s reminiscent of the Swedish band Ever Say Ever who also creatively pushed the jazz soul boundaries.
Vira Milton’s debut and only release to date, titled ‘Liar,’ sent shivers of excitement as I listened to it. Released in 2021, this single is a hidden gem that deserves to be rediscovered and cherished. Listeners who appreciate jazz infused with vintage noir will be entranced by the melancholic lyrics of ‘Liar.’ Co-created by Ulf Morfar Engström, the single features Daniel Bingert on saxophone, delivering an absolutely scintillating solo. Who is Vira Milton?
Vira Milton studied jazz singing at Fridhems folkhögskola from 2021 to 2023. She has graced the stages of prestigious events like the Stockholm Jazz Festival and the Enskede Jazz Festival. Additionally, she has toured Hungary and Slovakia as a singer in Koop Oscar Orchestra (formerly known as Koop). With a debut single on Spotify and a passion for recording original music, Vira Milton is actively honing her craft. Having made Stockholm her current home, she remains committed to recording her music, releasing it to the world, and captivating audiences through live performances.
In exciting news, Vira Milton has announced she will perform at Reimersholme Hotel, Stockholm on August 11, ahead of an EP release in the Autumn (2023).
