Gliding into the new year with a warm soulful breeze, Danish, London-based singer and producer Marie Dahlstrom has released the video (see above) for her latest duet Clouds, directed by Lennon Gregory (Poppy Ajudha, Sasha Keable).
Marie’s alluring, signature R&B neo-soul style blends almost effortlessly when accompanied by guests, as heard in her previous collaborations with Elijah Fox, James Vickery and many others.
Produced by Dan Diggas (Mahalia, Central Cee, M Huncho) on Marie’s own label JFH Records “Clouds” features vocals from MiC LOWRY’s Delleile Ankrah, and demonstrates his distinctive and mesmerizing singing abilities.
Discussing the song’s origin and lyrical inspiration, Delleile and Marie said:
Delleile: “This song is about when you’ve lost your path in life and you find it again. You get on the right path and you know you’re doing the right thing, the energy is good. That instinct and natural feeling. This song is crazy to me. Marie repping with the craziest vocals. So excited for this to come out and for everyone to hear her new album…”
Marie: “Yes, it’s about feeling lost, but taking 5 mins to get back on your feet and overcome whatever is in front of you. To face the fear or obstacle. It’s about moving forward. Working with Delleile on this, was so natural and honest. It was an evening during the last part of the pandemic, and everything just came together so smoothly and organically, with Dan Diggas on the production. We were all in the same room just catching that moment of creativity, and a few hours later, Clouds was basically what you hear on the record.”
Marie Dahlstrom is an established Scandinavian soul queen with a consistent stream of luxurious soul releases culminating in her highly praised debut EP, Like Sand (2022). Clouds is the first taste of her second full-length album, expected for release later this year.
