Adama Janlo, an artist, songwriter, and producer from Oslo, Norway, with roots in the Gambia, has released her debut single – Hurt.
Earlier this year, she contributed as a featured artist to the excellent song “Dopamine Activism” by the band Three Souls. She now showcases her powerful vocals on a solo single.

Blending influences of neo-soul, R&B and gospel, Hurt is a heart-wrenching track about heartbreak pain and the strength to overcome it. Adama’s emotional vocals express her pain through raw and compelling lyrics, which she delivers with stunning range. The track builds up to a passionate crescendo, where Adama’s voice soars with feeling.
Inspired by artists such as James Brown, Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill, Hurt is a heartfelt and emphatic piece of writing and singing.
The Norwegian soul music scene continues to grow, and an unbounded generation of artists is emerging. Adama Janlo’s debut is a strong statement of her talent and a glimpse into what’s yet to come.
Hurt is taken from her forthcoming debut EP. Adama Janlo is definitely one to watch!
