Norwegian duo Reb Parker introduces themselves to the soulful Nordic scene with their single Prejudice bathing us with bassy and delicate neo-soul melodies.
The band’s second single, Prejudice, makes a strong statement about today’s voices being silenced over a laid-back bass line and heavy 808s. The neo-soul arrangement with Rebecka Håland Skilbred‘s echoing soft female vocals is engrossing. The single is a call to action to end prejudice told through a hypnotic soulful lens. Those who remember bands like Rime, Oaklyn and White Ascot will feel at home in Reb Parker’s soundscape. And it’s a sound that’s never been more relevant. The message is simple – it’s time to come together, chill and reflect.
Reb Parker consists of Nikolai Bergstad as producer and, as previously mentioned, Rebecka Håland Skilbred on vocals. The collaboration, inspired by 90s Soulquarians and modern hip-hop, began on Discord during the pandemic.
Reb Parker released their first single, ‘Queen‘, in April 2023. After spending time in the studio, the group is ready to develop a live set and take to the stage. As the band prepares to release its debut EP, they will play several concerts.
With thought-provoking lyrics and an absorbing groove, their latest single shows Reb Parker has the potential to become a rising star in the rapidly growing Norwegian soul music scene.
