Premiering exclusively on scandinaviansoul.com is the new EP Where Should We Go by Swedish singer/rapper Adée. The stylishly designed case (for those who have the CD) presents new arrangements and vocals on a quartet of previously released tracks.
Adée selected four of her favourite self-penned songs and together with the Jazz duo UNIT, Bitte Appelqvist and Mpho Ludidi, offer fresh alternative versions.
‘I picked some of my favourite songs, and the idea was to record and create new versions of my music.’ said Adée. ‘During a few days in September 2017 Niclas’s (my friend) house was transformed into a recording studio and here is the result.‘
The difference is immediate from the first chords on – Make my Day. Gone is the voice box and electronic beat instead replaced with a more open, jazzy feel. While the soulful gem – Patient ft. South African soul artist Mpho Ludidi is slowed to a gentle sea breeze tempo.
Bitte Appelqvist provides his skilful guitar on all tracks and continues to underpin the singles Wasted On You and the cinematic – Where Should We Go.
We implore you to listen and compare with the original cuts. On this evidence its a concept we’d like repeated.
Twice is always nice.
