‘Take me as I am or not at all.’
The origin of the quote may have been lost over time, but its meaning still resonates in today’s world where self-image has become the symbol of one’s worth.
Swedish singer/songwriter Adée explains how she broke such a barrier and hopes to inspire others with her latest video – HOME.
I’ve been sitting on this video for a long time now, and at first, I told Matt that I didn’t want to release it. He asked me why, and I told him it was because I looked ugly in it. I’ve thought about that a lot since we had that conversation and my own comment make me angry. This video beautifully represents the song HOME because it’s stripped-down, emotionally naked and real. Just as the feeling of being homesick. I’m happy today that I changed my mind and could see the emotional drive it contains instead of all my flaws. I hope you all will like it and if you ever feel too ugly, remember that it’s more important to be okay with who you are and what you feel than how you look.
The soulful single Home is taken from her forthcoming album FORWARD to be released Dec 27th 2019.
