Readers of Scandinavian Soul know that we often expand into other corners of music such as soulful jazz, pop and blues. Our goal is to showcase music that evokes emotion and tells a story, regardless of its specific style. Anima Blue‘s debut Burning Bridges is a prime example of this, blending blues and strong lyrics with a fiery passion.
It’s bold. It’s honest. It’s exactly the kind of musical statement we want more people to hear.
Hailing from the small town of Moss in Norway, Anima Blue (Lill-Heidi Melheim) delivers a bluesy ball of fire with a strong message. Burning Bridges is the first single from her upcoming debut album, expected this September. And if this track is the spark, we’re in for a full blaze.
In her own words, Anima Blue describes the song as representing a crucial turning point:
“This song represents the point in my life where I went from being an insecure and maybe a bit naive girl, who cared way too much about others’ opinions – to really grow into becoming a woman who started to choose my own happiness and cut a lot of things out in my life that really held me back”

The track reflects that shift, raw, powerful, and unapologetically honest. It’s not just a matter of singing the words. She spits them out like the truth. Expletives and all.
“I burned a lot of bridges,” she says, “and really found my true self in the process.”
Every note bends and twists like someone finally breaks free. It’s got the scars in its bloodstream. Anima Blue‘s edge is front and centre here, yet her soul roots are near the surface. And that’s exactly why this single made it onto our writers’ pull list.
Welcome, Anima Blue.
If there’s more like this, we may have to change our name to Scandinavian Soul and Blues!
