Its been five years since we heard from Christoffer Hiding and the Swedish soul singer returns with a new single, Hon är, out today.
The singer whose album – Yes, Higher! (Best Album, Scandinavian Soul Music Awards 2014) retreated from the spotlight and embraced life away from music. His return now sees Christoffer singing in his native tongue, Swedish, and the single Hon är (translated as She is) gives a new aspect to his soulful tones while retaining his Prince influenced quality.
Speaking exclusively to us, Christoffer explained, “The English language is a filter if you’re not a native speaking person. You come much closer to the lyrics when expressing yourself in your mother tongue.”
His reemergence also owes credit to the power of love and support.
“When meeting my wife, I was quite unhappy in life. I had somewhat lost my sense of direction. She saved me from my unhappiness and gave me new meaning. So I would definitely say that she inspired the comeback as well as touring with Oskar Linnros, who always talked about that I should start creating again. We’re good friends, and I’m thankful for his support.“
Released with the instrumental version and a plan for a future EP 2020 promises to be another year of soulful musical riches.
