In autumn 2020, Cosima Olu released her debut album – Magnolia. The album marked an exciting new chapter for the flourishing Swedish artist as she explored her rich vocal sonics and stylish visuals.
Blending essences of soul and jazz with indie-pop undertones, Cosima Olu creates captivating music graciously expanding into new musical waters.
Now, Cosima presents a new captivating one-take performance recorded live at Riksmixningsverket in Stockholm. The 15min video is a one-take live production (split into visual parts) with a special arrangement by Carl Bagge and in collaboration with Swedish fashion brand Hope. Accompanying Cosima Olu are the talents of Mira Palme – backing vocal, Miriam Seltzer– harp, Daniel Migdal – violin, Ylvali Zilliacus – Viola, Kristina Winiarski – cello, and Per ‘Texas’ Johansson – bass clarinet/contrabass clarinet.
The room setting adds to the dynamics and soundscape, creating a delicate intimacy. It’s a mesmerising reminder of the art of live musicianship.

Describing the process leading up to this EP Cosima said:
”I’ve had a dream for a long time to collaborate with other creators and see what others can add to and create with my music. Carl Bagge is a good friend of mine, a fantastic musician, and we’ve talked for a long time about the possibility of making something together. I’m used to doing most parts of the process by myself, so it was really powerful to hear Calle’s versions of my songs. The collaboration felt very natural. It resulted in four songs from the album and a bonus, brand new, song written by Calle and arranged for me, a harp, violin, viola, cello, bass clarinet, being recorded. The setup makes the music very different from the originals. It gets more fragile and more heartfelt. It also feels great to release music that is truly live – one takes!
[I also have a] longing for more acoustic live music, which hopefully makes the listeners absorb into the feeling of now, like in an intimate small scale concert.
Since I released the album back in November, I’ve been writing new music. This time new producers and artists are involved, which is very exciting! In June, I will enter the studio bubble to continue to work on this and hopefully, I’ll have something new for you all this Autumn [2021]!”
All songs from the future EP will be released with an accompanying video. It means there’s a lot to look forward to! Cosima Olu x Live at Riksmixningsverket is officially released June 17 2021.
