Keep on Talking / Thomas Buttenschøn, B’Flow
Thomas Buttenschøn is a new artist to us but to call him a newcomer would be incorrect. Thomas Buttenschøn is a Danish alternative singer/songwriter who made his debut in 2006 with the hit single ‘Fantastiske Mandag’. His latest track, a funk-lined single – Keep on Talking holds a lyrical mirror to today’s society. B’Flow fires in a rap igniting like a fuse to dynamite. Not enough music reflects life outside of love and Keep on Talking tells the news in realtime.
BIO
Thomas Buttenschøns’ musical style is diverse, ranging from pop and rock to jazz and blues, and he generally performs live with a full band in which he plays the guitar and sings. His music reflects his youth and an indie mentality, the latter in spite of his commercial success.
Born on March 22, 1985, in Zambia, a country in southern Africa, Buttenschøn was raised in Jutland, Denmark. At 21 years old he released his debut single, “Fantastiske Mandag,” on the independent label Noob Factory. The song became a hit single and was followed later in the year by the full-length album Fantastiske Mandag (2006), which reached number 12 on the Danish albums chart. “Præsident I USA” is another popular song featured on the album.
In 2008 Buttenschøn achieved Top Ten success with his second album, Billeder af Min Baggård, and it’s lead single, “Smukkere End Smuk.” Around this same time, he released a three-track demo EP, Sovekammer Demoer II (2008). He teamed with producer Mathias Lyhne to form the duo Lad De Små Børn Lege and release Der Er Noget Galt I Himlen (2008), a four-track EP on the label Rust Music.

Rocket Science / Joe Xu
Joe Xu landed directly in our inbox this year with her excellent release Chess Piece, and the Swedish/Chinese artist keeps the needle in her neo-soul groove with her latest single – Rocket Science. The rhythmic melody and lush vocals set Joe Xu should be enough to blast this straight into your playlist.
We Know / LINDSJØRN
The third in this week’s discovery is a new artist to us. Lindsjørn is a Norwegian singer/songwriter who grew up listening to OutKast and Beyoncé.
In her description, Lindsjørn summarises ‘Lindsjørn writes music that starts with the beat of her heart; then the rhythm spreads through her veins. The outcome is a fascinating mix of Neo-soul, R&B and gospel.’
To date, Lindsjørn has released three tracks and the single – We Know, is the one we had to press repeat on! Listen out for more!
