Newly discovered, Stockholm-based artist and songwriter Emanuel Edner has released his second single, “One Piece”. In the true sense of Scandinavian soul, the single contains elements of gospel music, whilst nordic pop/rock influences are woven into this modern ballad.
Beginning with stripped-down, tender, almost trembling sonics, it has a soothing effect on its listener. The melody is reminiscent of Bill Whithers’s hit ‘Lean On Me‘, but in a true 6/8 soul beat. However, this is by no means a replica of Whiters’s soul classic; quite the opposite does ‘One Piece’ feels unique. The background harmonies are soft and subtle. Gospel in emotion, the instruments and vocals build with a climatic force.
The disposition of the track is one truly gripping part. Everything from the singer’s way of handling the lyrics to the breathtakingly beautiful harmonies in the chorus oozes dynamism. It goes from naked and vulnerable to larger-than-life and back as smooth as water pouring out emotion for the listener to be soaked in.
One Piece is a track where beauty and raw emotion meet in sheer ecstasy. Don’t miss this!
