Rules are meant to be broken, though we don’t recommend using this as an excuse to a Judge.
However, we’re about to break one of our own rules by including a debut single by duo Luxe For Fun – despite neither artist/musician hailing from these Scandinavian shores!
In our defence, your honour, their music was recorded in the excellent DeltaLab Studio, Copenhagen.
Luxe For Fun consists of Zara Tobias (26) – Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Jazz Masters singing graduate from Bristol and Alex Tyrrell (28) – sound artist and producer from north London.
Their debut single – Motions does sound a little raw, but there’s enough substance to be drawn into this delicate, seductive track.
The duo describe their music as 80’s nostalgia sophisti-pop drawing influence from 80’s pop/soul artists (Sade, Kate Bush), contemporary soul vocalists (Corrine Bailey Rae, Erykah Badu) and expansive producers who combine electronic and acoustic sounds (like Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno).
To our ears, we hear Pomona Dream and Marie Dahlstrom.
Luxe For Fun will continue to release new via Soundcloud, one song per month, from January 1st, 2018.
Ok, we might not be able to fully claim them as Scandi soul artists, however, it’s still a joy to bring you fresh new music.
