Already described as an artist to watch, Danish RnB/soul artist Jaya May has released her new single Yours, flowing, with gospel soul power.
From pressing play, this production is simple and bold, with a strong sense of scale and impact. Jaya May’s commanding voice is infused with a vulnerability that captures the power of love in the song’s honest lyrics. Gospel harmonies support her proud declaration with an ethereal glow.
While the song sounds like an ode to a partner, it’s actually about a different kind of commitment. A friendship pact – a sense of pride to be part of a group that actively chooses to make each other a priority.
“I wrote the song because I realised that apart from my real family, I also have a family of my own choosing. A team of people who forced me to put aside some responsibilities and share some of the things I was used to carrying alone”, says Jaya May.
Her latest song, ‘Yours‘, follows the R&B star’s ‘Let Me Know‘, which announced her name change (formerly ESPISCHICOQUE) and upcoming comeback. Following three years of touring as a drummer and percussionist for bands like Efterklang, Stine Bramsen (Alfabeat) etc. The Danish artist takes us to church with a beautiful gospel track of appreciation and gratitude, inspiring others to do the same.
