Copenhagen based duo OWMI revisit their song of love, Slipping, and reimagine it in new sound and vision.
Taken from their debut EP Tourner, Slipping exemplified OWMI (Jakob Miang and Bashir Billow) innovative R&B sound with a heart-shaped ballad captivatingly conveyed through lead singer Billow’s soulful vocals.
Aching with the overtures of love, OWMI explained the reshaping of Slipping (In A Chapel):
“We wanted to do a simpler, more organic and less fragmented session-version of Slipping. The 4-piece band, combined with a drumbeat forced us to focus on the core elements and just stick to them really.”

Reversing the usual ‘band’ centerstage role, OWMI step away from the foreground to focus on the audience’s experience. Dansekapellet, a historic chapel from 1908, creates the circular backdrop for a contemporary dance performance – mesmerising a single audience member. The concept highlights the importance of an audience (something I miss being part of!) and the limitations that are usually tied to the role of being an audience member.
Visually gracefully, the minimalist environment intensifies the songs’ echoing emotional atmosphere.
The leads are played by up-and-coming actor Hamun Maghsodlo and renowned dancer/choreographer Olivia Sol Anselmo.
OWMI are planning to release more music throughout 2021 as they continue to explore their evolving sound. Something to look forward to for sure.
