Amaya opens the new year with a soothing, soulful single Goodbye. Goodbye hears Amaya accepting a new reality in the warming glow of candlelight.
The gentle strings violins, a cello and exquisite bass chords by Vid Turica create an idyllic, atmospheric soundstage as Amaya soulfully caresses the airwaves.
With the ghost of 2020 still looming, Amaya used that period as a moment of self-reflection, examining the time it takes to let go of a relationship.
Describing the concept of the song further, Amaya says:
“Last year made me realise how much relationships mean to me. It made me want to be even more authentic, loving and caring towards others. My life has always been reflected in my music… In 2021 I’m saying goodbye to self-doubt, overthinking and the fear of failure. Goodbye is a special song because it doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever heard, which I now perceive as a positive thing.”
Behind the scenes
The video is a treat for the eyes. However, making high calibre visuals is not without risk, as Amaya reveals.
“There we were, surrounded by 800 candles and right after we finished filming one of the candles got kicked under a curtain, and it caught on fire. I imagined that the whole church would go up in flames in a matter of seconds! Luckily, there was plenty of water to prevent that from happening. Otherwise, I could have literally said 2020 went to hell!”
Many may say 2020 was hell! Let’s hope the future keeps sounding as good as this.
