Do not let the title Heavy Metal (We Can Do Anything) fool you. This is not thrashing guitars or screaming decibels of distortion. Instead, it’s an unfiltered trip to something far more atmospheric and soul-stirring.
Pär Hagström & Charlatans of Love have created a sound that sits somewhere between psychedelic rock, 90s nostalgia, and a cinematic kind of soul. Press play and the curtains draw back to reveal wailing slide guitar that captivates like a spell and gentle percussion set the stage before Hagström’s voice steps in with haunting command. His voice carries the force of a preacher leading his followers through the night. It’s soulful, theatrical, and drenched in emotion.
The hammond organ, Wurlitzer piano, and detailed percussion create a vast, room-filling sound. It’s moody, melancholy, and sensual all at once.
It feels as if you’ve been dropped into a misty forest at dusk, the air thick and eerie with mystery. Every note feels alive, swirling through the trees. The uplifting chorus harmonies are delivered in an an alluring atmosphere.

From our research it seems Hagström has always lived at the edge of genres. From death metal and hard rock to gospel, his artistic path has never followed a straight line. That history reveals itself here in an original blend organically different.
If you’re a fan of Swedish band Sunnan or Mon Rayon then you should have already pressed play. This is for you. Pär Hagström & Charlatans of Love have crafted something unforgettable and endlessly re-playable.
If only all Heavy Metal sounded like this!
Outstanding.
