There’s one thing you should always expect from Scandinavian soul: the unexpected. And Danish artist Ankah delivers exactly that with her new single and video premiere – Store Spørgsmål,
Filmed inside the magnificent 125-year-old Aarhus Theatre. The video feels like a mesmerising spell has been cast. Set on the grand stage, Ankah performs submerged in water under the haunting glow of a red supermoon. The imagery is hypnotic, poetic even, yet what truly holds you is a sense of intimacy and isolation. The scene radiates loneliness and longing, mirroring the quiet ache that runs through the song.
If you don’t understand Danish, you might feel momentarily distant. Still, visual storytelling bridges the gap completely. Store Spørgsmål translates to ‘Big Questions’, and the music asks them softly, through gentle semi-acoustic tones that gradually unfold into something deeper and more emotional.
After years of writing in English, Ankah chose to sing in her native language this time. “There are fewer places to hide in Danish,” she says. “It feels more uncompromising, as if the music comes closer to me when I write.” You can hear that closeness in every word.

Produced by Mikkel Hougaard, the video’s strength lies in its simplicity. There is no grand spectacle or heavy effects. Instead, the focus is on refined styling, natural emotion, and a layered soundscape that quietly pulls you in. It reminds you to pause, breathe, and be fully present.
That sense of being in the moment is exactly what this song explores. It reflects a longing to connect, to be touched and held by another human being. Few artists manage to translate that feeling into something so visually and emotionally tangible.
With Store Spørgsmål, Ankah once again expanded the borders of Scandinavian soul. Soulful music from the north has never been about imitation; it is about expression, honesty, and heart. This video captures that essence perfectly.
We’re proud to premiere Ankah’s Store Spørgsmål on Scandinavian Soul and the track forms part of her forthcoming debut release, set for 2026.
