If I go, welcome Swedish duo Princess Tapioca into our musical stratosphere with a soulful, mellow, atmospheric single.
This duo’s musicality is quite the opposite of the youthful innocence their band’s name – Princess Tapioca – suggests. The single delivers a mature, modern blend of nu-soul, pop and chill fused with soulful harmonies. It’s a song just right for late evening and after midnight. The track sets the scene for their unwavering love story with its mellow beat and confessional lyrics.
If you go,
I would follow you until my heart breaks
Describing the new single, Princess Tapioca said:
“We decided to build a chorus based on just major chords and the result was reminiscent of the harmonies and drama of classical music. We joked a bit and thought “Is this what it would sound like if Satie, Pachelbel and Bach composed a song today?” That there are so many emotions that move in classical music is something we are inspired by. Everything from euphoric love and happiness, to suffering and broken hearts and dreams.” “I like you more than you like me is a highly relatable feeling where at worst you can end up in a fragile state and would do anything for the person and at the same time wonder if the other person would do the same for you.”

Princess Tapioca
Childhood friends Alexandra Andersson and Josef Ask started Princess Tapioca in 2022, and it felt like completing a circle. Before exploring music’s infinite possibilities, the duo spent their formative years on a peninsula outside of Norrköping. Alexandra performed at SXSW with her band Ember Island; she remixed Skrillex’s “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber, Diplo, Jack Ü, and Jack, and the song continues to receive millions of streams on various platforms. After a short time at jazz folk high school, Josef gave up on becoming a musician. However, a few years later, he was in high demand as a drummer in the Swedish pop scene.
Even Alexandra and Josef’s parents played together in a church in the 1980s, showing how deep their roots run. Clearly, Alexandra and Josef’s fates were destined to intertwine.
The beauty of a duet is that it brings together two voices to create something new and exciting. Together Princess Tapioca has delivered a captivating song that conveys connected emotions. We look forward to more!
