Bluesy soul tracks.
We don’t post them enough.
However, Rollin n Tumblin feat. Sahra da Silva is an ideal song/video on our road of redemption.
Sahra da Silva, an outstanding blues soul vocalists in the calibre of the greats like Janis Joplin and Koko Taylor, lends her raspy vocals on the new single by The Cornbread Project. The production, which includes the video style, fits her voice like a tailored suit. The unique Danish singer, who has always felt ahead of her time, swigs whisky, smokes cigarettes and writhes seductively in this bluesy track that’s raw, fiery and unapologetically all woman. Lyrically on point ‘If the river was whisky, I’d be a diving doll‘ is a great standout line.
The Cornbread Project
The Cornbread Project was formed by musicians/producers Laust “Krudtmejer” Nielsen and Peter Nande in 2018. The pair met in November 2017 at Mojo in Copenhagen and quickly discovered a shared interest in expanding the boundaries of the blues and roots music that they love.
Nielsen explains: “There’s a gap in the blues world when it comes to the production side of things. The goal is to give blues productions a lift, give them more impact and make them stronger using ideas and inspiration from the development of the production approaches of other Afro-American genres, such as soul, R&B, hip-hop and reggae.”
With this approach, he says, “I think it’s possible to reach blues purists but also to reach a wider audience, getting people outside the blues realm in on it.”
Rollin n Tumblin will be released digitally soon. Keep ‘um coming guys!
