Newly discovered Norwegian band Circumnavigate may have their direction set to pop. However, they sailed into a soulful path with their dreamy new release – Shy Love.
This gentle, piano-based single is as soothing as watching water descend in slow-motion. Lyrically, Shy Love‘s theme is the unspoken infatuation, or a crush someone has for another. It’s the stage when you know you both like each other, but neither dare to make the first move.
The arrangement is as delicate as the lead vocal and harmonies. At the same time, the underlying bass provides enough rhythmic stability to enhance without imposing.
London based, this independent four-piece band are from Oslo, Norway, and literally ‘circumnavigated’ their way through lockdown restrictions to produce the new track. The group wrote everything over video calls and file transfers and was entirely produced ‘in house’ by lead singer Sigrid Zeiner (above photo: second from left).
‘Shy Love‘ follows on from the bands last well-received single ‘Layer You Up‘. Similiar in its ease-inducing vibes there’s enough richness and uplift to undress your stress.
Let’s hope they pass our soulful way again soon!
