Mexican/Swedish songstress Sofia Monroy simply smoulders with charismatic intensity in Swim Against The Tide‘s official video. The track may have dopped in late February, however, her vibrant pop/R&B vibes are still reverberating with irresistible heat. The beat is toasty, floor-friendly while the catchy chorus transposes the songs lyrical theme, as Sofia Monroy herself reveals (translated from Swedish):
‘Swim Against The Tide is about missing someone, and about trying to fill the void that another person can leave behind. A song about escape from reality to numb the grief when it is at its worst and a song about remembering the little details that make the memories alive, despite the pain.’

Sofia Monroy
Sofia Monroy had a stormy start to her life when she was born just over 20 years ago on a rooftop in Mexico City. However, after two years of living in an intense capital, the family emigrated to the calming coastal city of Luleå, Sweden.
Sofia fuses this melting pot of contrasts within her music. From language to style, the colourful meets the minimalist and blends with changing linguistic modes of expression.
Swim Against The Tide is the second single Sofia’s released under Albin Johnsén‘s newly launched company ‘Realistic Recordings‘. And her latest ‘I Don’t Wanna Fight‘ dropped last week.
