A year ago, Swedish soul singer Stephen Simmonds introduced his unique Christmas show “Winter Soul” at Café Opera, and it proved to be a huge success. The show is a before Christmas celbration with roots in pure soul music.
“I’m so grateful and happy to have such a devoted and loving audience and it is really a luxury for me as an artist to get such positive feedback by Sweden’s musical elite so I long to finally get to be on stage again in December to give the audience the best of everything!” says Stephen.
In 1997, the Simmonds came to attention with the song “Tears Never Dry” which he sang with Lisa Nilsson and almost simultaneously released “I believe in you” and the breakthrough was monumental. Since then, Stephen has written the soundtrack to the film “Rånarna” (“Where’s My Love”) and established the house band in the television success Cirkus Möller, and the hit song “Adiyeah“.
Stephen also did an acclaimed guest appearances of Sarah Dawn Finer on SVT in which they performed the Christmas song “När det lider mot jul“. The same interpretation will naturally feature in the Christmas show.
The show takes guests on a Christmas themed journey of soul and R&B. Stephen rarely performs concerts so this is a unique opportunity to experience one of the Sweden’s premier messengers of soul.
Stephen Simmonds Christmas show “Winter Soul” is at the Rotundans scen at Café Opera, Stockholm on the following dates 2/12, 3/12, 9/12, 10/12, 16/12 & 17/12.
