After a long battle against cancer, the 52-year-old Swedish producer Christian Falk passed away today. He produced across many musical styles along with artists such as Robyn, Petter and DJ Sleepy.
Scandinavian Soul co-founder Stevie Nii-Adu Mensah said:
‘He was BIG inspiration to me because of his penchant for FUNK but also for his breadth when it comes to production’
Christian Falk was born 25 April 1962 in Stockholm. In the early 80s, he created the band Empire of Al Green members Joakim Thåström and Stry Terrarium, who immediately became successful. Christian Falk was the bass player in the band.
In 1983 they changed their name to just “Empire”. He later worked the band Blackness Allstars who many credit as one of the best Soul/R&B groups Sweden has ever produced. Falk released the hit single, “Make It Right”, in 1999.
Christian Falk has since worked hard to produce other Swedish artists’ music. Robyn, Neneh Cherry, Papa Dee, Petter, Kayo – all have songs produced by Christian Falk.
