Timmion Records to release compilation album thanks to Daptone Records

American record label Daptone Records (Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings) have reached out a hand and supported Finnish record label, Timmion Records, forthcoming compilation BAD EDUCATION, VOL. 1: “SOUL HITS” OF TIMMION RECORDS.

Timmion Records is Helsinki’s ‘diamond mine of soul’, establishing itself as the Nordic equivalent to Motown Records. For the past 15 years, Timmion has released a steady stream of classic soul singles on 7″, and 12″ vinyl seeped in the roots of classic soul music.

The Soul Investigators, Pratt & Moody and Bobby Oroza are just some of the names Timmion have discovered and are always our first port of call when researching the latest exciting soul sounds. And they never disappoint.

The Finnish label is at the forefront of the rebirth of retro soul, a fact which has not gone unnoticed by Daptone Records. Vinyl may be enjoying a resurgence; however, the production costs are still expensive, so its a highly commendable act to see labels supporting each other like this. With the cream of choices to select from, the Daptone team have made a list of their favourite Timmion tracks from the past couple of years and collected it in one compilation.

The ten track playlist reads like the best of Scandinavian soul and includes exquisite singles such as the funky Ernie Hawks & The Soul Investigators – Scorpio Walk, the Afro-Latin soul killer Bardo Martinez & The Soul Investigators – Bad Education and the heart-breaking gem Pratt & Moody – Lost Lost Lost.
