Whenever a debut single pulls you in, there’s a special kind of magic. That’s exactly what happens with Want It Too, the gorgeously smooth and self-produced debut from Swedish artist Tove Evyn.
Yes, you read that right, written, performed and produced by Tove herself. And this isn’t one of those cases where we throw words like ‘talent’ around just for the sake of it. This is a track that speaks softly, confidently, and with depth.
Drawing from the golden sounds of 90s and early 2000s R&B, think Toni Braxton, Aaliyah, Karyn White, and blending it with a contemporary international feel, Want It Too feels instantly familiar and undeniably fresh.
From the first few seconds, the production doesn’t leap out trying to grab you. Instead, it takes your hand gently and guides you into a melodic, emotional journey. It’s stylish, soulful, and carries a sense of poise that feels rare for a debut.
Lyrically, the track sketches out the contours of a relationship that feels sincere and loving, yet shadowed by a quiet void, a gentle ache of frustration. As she sings, Tove lets her voice flow through the melody rather than overpower it.
The accompanying video (see top video) follows the same artistic tone, elegant, uncluttered, and expressive. There’s no over-choreographed routine or flashy set. Instead, it focuses on presence and feeling. Even when Tove winds and sways, it’s never performative. It’s intimate. Honest. Just like the track itself.
With Want It Too, Tove’s has set a high bar for what’s to come. We’ll be watching closely. This debut is more than promising.
Welcome, Tove Evyn. You’ve got our attention.
