The Swedish songstress pleads for a lover while combining vulnerability with strength, delicate clothing with heavy boots, and pop sonics with R&B vocals. Amanda Fondell seamlessly folds all these into one.
A radio-pleasing single, Baby, builds with expansive dynamics driven by her intense vocal style. It’s a manner befitting an artist who took Sweden by storm in 2011 when she debuted aged just 16 years old.
Inspired by the genuine love in her life, her fiancé Joel, this powerful ballad has a minimalist arrangement for an uncluttered message and video performance.
Describing the song’s conception, Amanda explained:
“It was over a FaceTime conversation with Isabella Sjöstrand that we talked about writing a song that is straight from the heart, unadulterated, honest and completely without filters. My fiancé Joel and I have been together for ten years. He is the one who knows me best on this earth, and he knows as always what to say when I do not find the words. ‘You know what I wanna say before I even open my mouth‘ is a line taken directly from our everyday life.
Joel is also behind the song’s production, and Amanda continued;
“He took the production to new heights, arranged grandiose strings, got the song moving. Maybe that’s what love is – to move together through life, to be understood and feel needed.”
Since her recent EP, PT.1 Let Me Introduce You To My Thoughts, it’s obvious Amanda Fondell has outgrown the title of ‘2011 Idol Winner’ and secured an identity crafted by her musical vision, distinct artistry and fashion choices.
