21-year-old artist AGGi DiX from Århus, Denmark celebrates her blackness with an empowering new single, GOD WAS A BLACK LADY.
God is often depicted in western culture as a silvered-haired old white man; however, the omnipresent being should, in reflection, be an image of her/his children, and for AGGi DiX God was a Black Lady. There’s nothing contrived in her message either. This song is born from her life and soul.
Quoting Aggi from her social media posts;
‘If God was the creator of all life and before life was pure blackness or a black whole. If all life was created by female energy, divinity, fertility! Then Imma call the shots…’
The artists’ vision comes to life with AGGi’s engaging vocal harmonics, delightfully shaped by her soul/hop phrasing style and a truly outstanding R&B production.
Comparable to US R&B artists Erykah Badu or Lion Babe, the single lifts AGGi DiX to the top of this year’s releases.
‘This gon be for ma ladies and all the supporters of equality aka my family and allies. [So to] to all minorities fighting and opposing. Your struggle is no waste but inspiring!’
Since her early releases, AGGi DiX has shone a uniqueness as individual as her name.
Remember this song. Remember this artist.
