The creative vision and sound of Charlotte Dos Santos continues to be in full view with the Norwegian/Brazilian songstresses new video for her single – Josef.
Josef, taken from her recent EP Harvest Time, lifts the gospel side of soul and delivers it to the fore. The illuminating artists’ work connects with the universe, with lyrics deep in its relationship to humanity, and enriched by spiritual elements.
Describing the single Charlotte Dos Santos says;
Josef is a story about a person fighting for their survival. I wrote the song during a time there was a lot of coverage around the global migrant crisis. We live in a time of a pandemic, raging racial injustice, constant police brutality, religious and political warfare and climate change – people are just trying to survive.
The avant-garde artist grounds the arrangement in minimal percussion, angelic vocal harmonies and a rhythmic crescendo. The video by PREHUMAN has a muted colour palette, while the simplicity of the stop-motion animation perfectly complements the story-telling narrative.
Charlotte Dos Santos continues to create a new musical world far more beautiful than the real one.
