Danish newcomer Giift impresses / Me time
Unwrapping a striking new voice to the scene.
When listening to the song ‘Me time‘ by Giift, you imagine it being written by a former famous pop star that now, when reaching her 40s and wanting to contemplate her life and experiences, turns her career to soul music. That’s the level of quality, maturity and authenticity both the song and the singer bring to the table. Truth be told, Giift is an 18-year-old singer, brand new in the music industry, writing and producing her own music in Denmark.
This talented young singer has a voice that completely overflows with beauty and integrity, which she uses to captivate from the first tone. Her vocal range is impressive, especially the lower part of her range is as lovely as a hot bath in a luxurious jacuzzi and makes her stand out. Despite this being our first introduction, we can already see Giift on any stage, in front of any audience, and not a single person will be disappointed or doubt her vocal competence.
The track is a short one, and it seems to be over way too quickly, but at the same time, it takes you on a journey and uses every single second in the best possible way. From that perspective, the song appears way longer than it actually is. The sound is naked and raw, but both the vocals and the guitar have a dynamic expression, making it the opposite of bland or mediocre. In fact, the very simplicity of the song lets its outstanding quality shine through in every tone.
