The heart does what the heart wants. Emelie Rose releases a soulful ballad and reminds us that we don’t choose who we fall in love with.
The Swedish singer/songwriter crafts an engaging tale of two women discovering each other and connecting in a love affair. It’s lyrically written in a way that acknowledges you the listener at the opening and suggests those who feel uncomfortable about the subject of finding love and following the heart, no matter what, should pause and leave the track. It is a tale of bravery, inner strength and ultimately love regardless of sexual orientation. Sung in English, the song encompasses country, soul and gospel music – uplifting in both sentiment and personal awakening.
Describing the single Emelie says, “For me, the song is about love having the ability to sneak in where we least expect it and sometimes challenge both our identity and moral compass.”
Emelie Rose
Emelie Rose EP debuted almost ten years ago and joined the track ‘Yours To Keep‘, from the debut album ‘Only You Worry‘, Värmland’s contribution in P4 Next. Over the years, she has toured Sweden with her then 10-man band, but then took a much-needed break in the musical and has since kept a low profile. Now Emelie Rose is back with the second track from the upcoming album and is with a newfound glow and strength, more ready than ever to start a new chapter in life!
Originally Emelie comes from Dalsland and Mellerud but has been based in Karlstad for several years. It has been a couple of trying years for Emelie when the music break mostly went to support her mother, who eventually lost her fight against cancer in 2015. One year later, Emelie began work on her new album, whose second single now sees the light of day.
After coming out in 2011, there was something that changed inside Emelie where a new self-confidence and glow emerged. This led to her reinvigorated songwriting, creativity and artistry as revealed in her new single ‘No Boundaries‘.
The album ‘A Lot of Love Coming My Way‘, will be released early next year via Emelie’s own record label Roseland Productions. The theme is Swedish soul sung in English with an international soundscape. Already sounds good to us!
It’s a warm welcome to Emelie Rose into the contemporary Scandinavian soul scene.
