A warm, feel-good factor emerges through the dark and gloomy global climate with Feridah Roses’ new video for the single – Njabala.
The Danish-Ugandan singer combines influences from her roots with modern sounds to produce an uptempo single featuring African rhythms and the singer’s mother tongue, Luganda.
Njabala is the title track from her recently released EP and takes a traditional Ugandan song, but reimagines the lyrics as a call to freedom. It is a hopeful celebratory song about being free to dream and inspire.
Accompanied by the passion and joy from one of Denmarks finest percussionists, Ayi Solomon, an enthusiast backing choir and Feridahs’ enchanting smile, the soulful single does indeed feel uplifting and cheerful.
At a time when Women’s rights are being taken away in the US and shocking new Russian laws regarding the treatment of wives, the timing of this single couldn’t be better.
Video by Crawfurd Media and features; Feridah Rose (vocals), Ayi Solomon (percussion), Jamil Mille Oskarson (bass), Søren Heller (guitar), Jens Stoklund Jensen (drums), Lasse Storgaard (keys), Lucas Tuan Minh Hoang, Thora Kirstine Weinreich Kruse & Nanna Nabila (backing vocals).
